Vogue Hang tag for Ginny - Is It Authentic?

By checking the font on the hangtag, you can tell if the tag is an original Ginny tag.
Theseare original hangtags from a collector who has had the dolls and tags in her collection for many years. Look carefully at the letter W. See how allfour lines of the W go all the way to the top? All Vogue tags, whether the fat or skinny font, had this same W. None of the fonts had the W where the middle point was shorter. Now look at the spacing of the actual name WANDA. Notice that the spacing is even and not crowded, there is plenty of room between each letter.

RED RIDING HOOD provides a couple clues for the observant collector. Look at the R. The leg on the R that makes the R an R and not a P does not gee out at a right angle. It curves downward and then flares slightly at the bottom. Modern font has the leg geing out at a right angle.
Look at the E. Notice the three lines that make this an E. The top line and the bottom line have very defined flares on the end, BUT the middle line is a clean linewith no flare. Also note how much space there is between all three of these lines.
Look at the I. It does not take up as much room as the other letters.

CHRISTINE is an example of the font that Vogue used with thicker letters, and the same holds true for this font. The I is skinny, the E has the no flare on the end of the middle line, and the R leg curves downward and is not at an angle..
It also shows us the C. The top curve and bottom curve almost reach the same height as the bar of the H. The curves are very defined when gepared to the curve on the J which is just barely there in JUDY. It looks more like a line with a dot. Certainly not the fish hook type J we see currently.

Before buying a tag online, make sure you have a clear picture of the tag so you can gepare the font. Study the pictures of hangtags in the books listed below and gepare the letters of those in the book to the letters on the tag you are considering.
Finally, notice how the tag is strung. After checking over 100 hangtags, I found that all of them have the cord threaded through the hole and then knotted. Not one tag in any of the books below had the tags double threaded through the hole.
